It has been a long half term and the children have been working incredibly hard in school . The recent parents' evenings were a great opportunity for parents and carers to see the books and talk about their child's progress since the start of the year . We aim for every child to be happy, to feel safe and to learn well and the partnership we have with parents helps us to achieve this. Please do continue to let us know if you have any concerns or questions about your child's education. You don't have to wait until the next parents' evening. The parents' evening surveys have been analysed and shared with staff and governors. They were incredibly positive with parents commenting on the strong evidence of the Christian Values of 'Love, Trust and Forgiveness' in action creating a welcoming and nurturing atmosphere across the school. These comments made us all feel very proud. The children who successfully completed the Civic Award in Y6 last year were presented with their certificates by the Mayor of Southampton at a very special ceremony in the Council Chambers. The children even got to see the Mayor's Parlour and all the city treasures on display in the room. A huge thank you to Mrs Clayton who organises the Civic Award each year alongside Miss Strange. The children gain so much from doing the award and helping the community. House Captains We have 4 House Groups in school. The children can earn house-points for great work or behaviour. We also compete in Houses on sports morning. The members of each House have voted for their Captains and Vice Captains. Congratulations to all those mentioned below. Brook Trinity A (c), James KP (vc) Brownlow Pyrena H (c), James F (vc) Maytree Amelia H (c), Malakai B (vc) Pound Millie ON (c), Nathan B (vc) Learning out and about Year 6 had a very enjoyable learning day at Marwell. They were great ambassadors for the school. School Council A huge well done to the following children for being voted as School Councillor or Deputy School Councillor. The children had to present a short speech to the school as to why they should be a School Councillor, their speeches were superb. School Councillors, Ivy H, Lola M, Olivia O, Matthew A, Sam C, Lucy ON, Attoria M, Grace B, Elijah P, Brooke M, Kai'lah M, Evie W, Jack B. Deputy School Councillors, William t, Clark H, Ronnie B, Maisey C, Laurah CB, Sam N, Thomas S, Jayden VS, India W, Declan M, Scarlett Y, Nathaniel J. We will have Year R members after Christmas. Offsite trip costs– The maximum contribution we ask parents to pay for any trip will increase to £15 for this year. The transport costs have gone up significantly. We are very grateful to the Bitterne Friends PTA for subsidising trips for every child, when the actual costs are more than £15. If a trip costs less than £15, we will ask for contributions for the lower amount. We believe that the children really benefit from the experience of going on an offsite learning trip and hope these will be able to continue with the support of parents who continue to send in contributions to cover the costs.
