Hi All, Happy June! We hope that the start of your summer has been refreshing and full. There have been beautiful testimonies this past month of breakthrough, new life, and strength in difficult times. Even in the midst of some severely traumatic situations, the joy of the Lord has faithfully been our strength. Our staff and volunteer teams are praising the Lord for over 60 rescues this year and thousands of encounters during outreach in local strip clubs, jails and our community streets! One of these rescues was a man who had previously met some of our team during outreach, and we're celebrating his next steps into a long-term program and continued freedom! We are also still very excited about being able to move into a new safe home property this year and are currently navigating the complicated zoning process. Please pray for wisdom and favor! A few weeks ago, my family shared this fantastic prayer with me and the Lord has been burning the calling of it in my heart in a fresh way: "May God bless you with discomfort at easy answers, half-truths, and superficial relationships, so that you may live deep within your heart. May God bless you with anger at injustice, oppression, and exploitation of people, so that you may work for justice, freedom and peace. May God bless you with tears to shed for those who suffer from pain, rejection, starvation, and war, so that you may reach out your hand to comfort them and to turn their pain into joy. May God bless you with enough foolishness to believe that you can make a difference in this world, so that you can do what others claim cannot be done. And the Blessing of God, who Creates, Redeems and Sanctifies, be upon you and all you love and pray for this day, and forever more. Amen." -St. Francis of Assisi Whatever your season looks like right now, I pray this is true for you, and may we always love like Jesus and see people as He sees them! Thank you, always, for your prayers and partnership! Joyfully, Mel Meyer Director of Out of Darkness |
